Ali dastmalchian
Dr. Ali Dastmalchian
President and Chair of the Global Leadership & Organizational Behavior Effectiveness (GLOBE) Foundation and Principal Investigator for GLOBE’s latest endeavor, GLOBE 2020, Dr. Ali Dastmalchian has held several faculty positions, visiting appointments, and has management experience in locations around the world including North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. An international and award-winning, teacher, facilitator, and researcher, he currently serves as the Dean and Professor of Management and Organization Studies and International Business in the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University. Ali brings over 20 years of experience in leadership roles at Canadian Universities; previously serving as Dean of the Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria (2002- 2012) and in the Faculty of Management at the University of Lethbridge (1997-2002). He served as Chair of Canadian Federation of Business School Deans, and was on American Association of Collegiate of Business Schools’ (AACSB) Global Accreditation Committee, and is currently on the European Quality Improvement System’s (EQUIS) Accreditation Board. With over 100 publications and over 15 major research grants from Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Ali has proven to be an experienced researcher. Ali’s research and teaching interests span organizational design and change, organizational culture and climate, cross-nation leadership, international management, and innovation. He obtained both his PhD and Master’s of Science from Cardiff Business School in Wales and his Bachelor’s from the National University of Iran.
Mansour javidan
Dr. Mansour Javidan
Multiple award-winning executive educator and author whose teaching and research interests span the globe, Dr. Mansour Javidan received his MBA and Ph.D. degrees from the Carlson School at the University of Minnesota. He is the Garvin Distinguished Professor and Director of Najafi Global Mindset Institute ( at Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University. Mansour is the past President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the world-renowned research project on national culture and leadership, titled GLOBE (Global Leadership and Organizational Behavior Effectiveness). Dr. Javidan was recently recognized as among the top 100 most influential (i.e., top 0.6%) authors in Organization Behavior in the world. He is currently the project director of GLOBE 2020, a research program focused on culture change and trust dynamics in 100 countries.
Mila lazarova
Dr. Mila Lazarova
Dr. Mila Lazarova joined the Beedie School of Business in 2002 from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, where she received her PhD. Her research interests include expatriate management, with a focus on repatriation and the career impact of international assignments; work/life balance issues related to assignments; global careers and the role of organizational career development and mobility practices in organizations; the changing role of the HR department; and comparative human resource management. Mila holds the Canada Research Chair in Global Workforce Management.
Amanda bullough
Dr. Amanda Bullough
Dr. Amanda Bullough is an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Delaware. Her expertise spans global and women’s leadership, organizational behavior, and entrepreneurship. She publishes in premier journals, has presented at numerous international business and management conferences, consults for high-profile clients, and has traveled and worked in approximately 40 countries.
Carolyn egri
Dr. Carolyn Egri
Dr. Carolyn P. Egri is the Associate Dean, Research and International, and William J.A. Rowe EMBA Alumni Professor in the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University, Canada. She received her PhD from the University of British Columbia. Her research interests focus on international management, environmental sustainability, and corporate social responsibility. Her work has been published in leading journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of World Business, and Journal of Business Ethics.
Rick cotton
Dr. Rick Cotton
Dr. Rick Cotton is a Principal Co-Investigator for GLOBE and an Associate Professor at the University of Victoria’s Gustavson School of Business. He holds a MS and PhD in Organization Studies from Boston College. He has been a management consultant to multinationals including Aetna, General Electric, Pepsi and United Technologies and worked as a HR SVP. His research interests include extraordinary career achievement, networks and talent management with a focus on how human, social, and positive psychological capital foster individual and collective success. His research has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, and Human Resource Management among others and he is currently an officer in the Academy of Management Careers Division and a member of the 5C Group (Cross-Cultural Collaboration on Contemporary Careers).
Peter dorfman
Dr. Peter W. Dorfman
Dr. Peter W. Dorfman is Professor Emeritus of Management at New Mexico State University. As a faculty member, he held the Robert O. Anderson Distinguished Professorship (1991-1997) and Bank of America Professorship in the Department of Management (2009-2012). His articles on leadership and cross-cultural management have appeared in leading management journals including Leadership Quarterly, Journal of Applied Psychology, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management and Journal of International Business Studies among others. He has been a Fulbright scholar and received many research awards including the Academy of Management Perspectives best journal paper award and decade award for “In the Eye of the Beholder: Cross cultural Lessons in Leadership from project GLOBE.” Another journal article “Leadership in Western and Asian Countries: Commonalities and differences in effective leadership processes was awarded the outstanding article in Leadership Quarterly (1999). He has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors and President of GLOBE and co-principal investigator of two decade-long Global Leadership and Organizational Behavioral Effectiveness (GLOBE) Research Projects. He is an author of the latest GLOBE book titled "Strategic Leadership across Cultures: The GLOBE Study of CEO Leadership Behavior and Effectiveness in 24 Countries" (Sage 2014). This book received the 2015. Scholarly Rigor and Critical Thought award from the University of San Diego and International Leadership Association (ILA). Dr. Dorfman's current research continues to investigate the impact of cultural influences on leadership styles and organizational effectiveness through the GLOBE 2020 project.
